Response to COVID-19
Jacob's Well
June 11, 2020
It has been more than a month since Jacob's Well has had to pivot away from our practiced rhythms and into a new normal within our current reality. While balancing the safety of our friends and larger community - things look different - but we continue to lean into the faith led mutuality that lies at the core of who we are. Here's a sneak peek of some of what we've been up to:
Outreach : While having to close our space to gatherings, we have the wonderful opportunity to engage friends outside our doors. Every week we take brown paper bags of snacks, a prayer and some safety information and go out into the neighbourhood in small groups of two or three. It is an opportunity to connect through conversation, pray with friends and be a blessing to each other.
Grocery supply: Recognizing the need to help support the most vulnerable of our friends, we began a grocery delivery program that supports about 30 of our friends every week. Volunteers check in with friends during the week to see what their needs are and a crew of community members deliver the groceries and supplies.
Community Kitchen: Immediately after the spread of COVID-19, with services shutting down, there was an increased need for food in the neighbourhood. Our weekly community kitchen has been converted into serving boxed meals at the front door. Community members continue to come together in this effort.
This is a crucial season at Jacob's Well as we seek to serve and support together in the DTE. We ask that you consider giving generously at this time. Your donation will go towards supporting community members with immediate needs and staffing costs, as we navigate this season and beyond. You can read more of what we're doing together on our blog. Thank you for all of the ways that you help make Jacob's Well possible.
