There was something about the pattern of our meetings, the regularity of it, through all seasons.
We cherish the memories of Tuesday evenings community kitchen when people would start to come through the doors seeking whatever familiar thing we served up each week. There was something about the pattern of our meetings, the regularity of it, through all seasons. In summer when the streets were dry and neighbors could spend more time outside, to winter when the incessant rain made everyone a little too damp, we were there with each other feasting on Sunrise chicken, again. We still see all the old faces in our minds. Our children have stuffed toys named Stewart and Melba (two wonderful neighborhood friends from Jacob’s Well days). We cannot crush garlic without thinking of Elan crunching his way through clove after clove on an illusive search for dental pain relief. We treasure our Jacob’s Well family, for how they set our hands in the soil, nourished us with welcome and pointed a way to live in this world less alone.
We are currently farming in Grand Rapids, MI, USA with our children William and Eliza and our Border Collie, Minn.
