I was involved with Jacob's Well from 2005 - 2009 when my wife and I were living in Vancouver for her to attend Regent College.
Dear Jacob's Well Brothers and Sisters,
It is a privilege and joy to write a letter affirming the impact Jacob's Well had on my life, as well as that of my daughter. I will let her convey her own thoughts.
I was involved with Jacob's Well from 2005 - 2009 when my wife and I were living in Vancouver for her to attend Regent College. Even though I was traveling with a mission’s agency to care for our staff around the world, there were many weeks when I was in Vancouver and could be involved with a great team of people to provide a weekly dinner, which I believe was on Tuesday nights. It was a gift from God to serve with Dave and Helen Aupperlee, Jess Richmond, Mike Spiers, my daughter Amy, and others as we prepared, served, and enjoyed great meals and conversation with the men and women who attended. Joyce Rees was in leadership at that time and was present on occasion and always a blessing to each of us.
The opportunity to be involved with this Jacob's Well team of people sewed a passion and longing to know Christ more deeply and journey with Him among those on the margins in the DTES that God used to lead me to serve as Chaplain in Vets Manor with Whole Way House in the DTES, that started last May and continues 30 hours a week. It is a joy and growth producing opportunity and calling to serve with the staff there, and to experience God's heart for the marginalized aging men there, even as I age myself. Grateful for the privilege of being connected with Jacob's Well.
